New Delhi, Nov 28 (PTI) Smartphone maker Huawei claims tohave almost doubled shipments of Honor smartphones in Indiathis year as compared to 2016.
"Honor shipped 98.8 per cent more devices in 2017 (toIndia) than in 2016," Honor President George Zhao told PTI.
Huawei sells Honor smartphones online.
He said that with increase in sales, the company isplanning to further ramp up its manufacturing facility inIndia.
Honor is planning to start selling artificialintelligence (AI) enabled smartphones in India early next yearwhich, it says, will be able to sense who is usingthe phone, translate messages as per preference of the phoneowner etc.
The company in China launched V10 smartphone for RMB29,999. As per industry sources, Huawei may launched in V10in India market for under Rs 40,000 a unit -- at almost halfthe price of AI enabled that has been launched by two othercompanies in the India.
"India is a key market for Honor and we will bridge thegap between our global and India launches going forward. Weare looking to time our India launches in tandem with globallaunch and going by that, we should be seeing the new AIphones in India as soon as they are launched in the overseasmarket," Huawei Consumer Business Group Vice President -Sales, P Sanjeev said.
The company has plans to launch Honor 7x phone inDecember which is expected to be priced around Rs 15,000 andwill be first phone in that price category with 15.06centimetre display, split screen, dual lens camera, 16megapixel and 2 MP on rear side and 8 MP on the front,according to sources.
