The Commerce Department reported that gross domestic product, the nation's output of goods and services, rebounded from a lackluster 0.5% expansion the last three months of 2025.
Throughout the shutdown, at least 670,000 federal employees were furloughed, while about 730,000 others were working without pay, according to the Bipartisan Policy Center.
