Officially known as Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, the Women's Reservation Act provides for the reservation of one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and all state assemblies for women.
Justice Subramonium Prasad noted that the petitioner has no “personal interest” in the matter while asking the lawyer to file a public interest litigation (PIL) instead.
“It shall come into force on such date as the Central government may, by notification in the official gazette, appoint,” read the Law Ministry notification.
