KOCHI: The Kochi-based I-League side, Viva Kerala has roped in prolific Ghanaian striker Reuben Senyo in its efforts to take on the high and mighty of Indian football this season. The 25- year old former Ghana Under-23 player, has been a regular goalscorer in the Ghana Premier League.

Arriving on a free transfer from Sekondi Hasaacas FC, Senyo had earlier played for one of the most successful clubs in Ghana, the Accra-based Hearts of Oak. He scored 33 goals in 37 games within the first three years paving the way for his entry into the national Under- 23 team in 2006.

In addition, Senyo brings to Viva some African Champions League experience having played in the continental tournament for the Hearts of Oak.

"It's great that we have such a good striker," said the club's managing director Liaquath Ali.

Also joining is Senyo’s 26-year old compatriot Charles Dzisah, a central defender, from first division team New Edubiase FC. Meanwhile, defender Bello Rasaq signed a one-year contract with Viva Kerala on Monday ending rumours that he was moving to ONGC, Mumbai.

The Nigerian, who was on loan from Mahindra United for a year, had played a stellar role in the Kochi club's promotion to the ILeague last season.

Earlier this month, Viva had signed Patrick Raman Sisupalan, a 24-year old player of Indian origin, from the London-based futsal club FC White Bear to bolster its midfield.

The club is expecting a top-five finish in the I-League with the inclusion of the new players.

"We are aiming for a top-five finish this year," Liaquath said adding that the club is on the lookout for an Asian player as well in accordance with the AIFF ruling that one of the four foreigners has to be an Asian. Senyo and Dzisah are expected to join the club by the middle of August with the team set to begin training on July 5 at the FACT ground here.
