HYDERABAD: After months of frustration and inconsistent badminton, Chetan Anand of India finally won a title when he won the Dutch Open crown on Sunday.

The number two seed defeated sixth seed Eric Pang 21-12, 21-15 in the men’s singles final.

Former chief national coach Syed Mohammad Arif believes that Anand’s title has long been overdue. His biggest problem is the injuries.

“That has been a big worry. He has got the game to excel in Super Series tournaments also,” said Arif.

Anand last won a Grand Prix title at the Bitburger Open last year.

Anand defeated P Kashyap in the quarterfinals and then defeated Dicky Palyama of Netherlands in the semifinals.
