KOZHIKODE: The Kalliath Steel Open All Kerala snooker tournament for the K V Koyason Koya Trophy will be held at the Cosmopolitan Club here from July 31 to August 2.
In the prize money event, the winner will be richer by Rs 15,000 while the runner-up will carry home Rs 7,500. Atit Shah of Coronation Club, Mattanchery, who won a double in the state biliards and snooker championship held at the Regional Sports Centre in Kochi recently, will be the man to beat in a field of fifty that includes the top cueists in the state. The junior state champion Akhil Johnson of the RSC will also compete, said Darius Marshal, the chairman of Cosmopolitan Club.
Dilshad, Daya U-19 champs
Kozhikode: Ernakulam’s Dilshad Kamaluddin and Thiruvananthapuram’s Daya Elsa Jacob walked away with the Under-19 boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively in the Savitri Saboo All Kerala junior ranking badminton tournament that concluded at the V K Krishna Menon Indoor Stadium here on Tuesday.
In the finals, Dilshad beat Sharon Raphael 21-19, 21-18 while Daya overcame K Anusha 21-8, 21-15. However, the finalists had the consolation of winning titles in the Under-16 section. Sharon partnered Pranav Satheesh to beat Vishnu Rajendran and Aswin Paul 21- 13, 15-21, 21-19 in the doubles final.
Anusha bagged the singles title beating M H Haritha 21-19, 21-9.
M R Arjun and K J Malavika won twin titles in the Under-13 category.

Inter-district cricket from Aug 8
Kochi: The Kerala Cricket Association’s central zone Under-19 inter-district matches will be held here from August 8 to 15. Palakkad, Thrissur and Idukki apart from the hosts Ernakulam will compete in a league format. The central zone team will be picked from the competition.
Meanwhile, Akhil M S was named as the captain of the team representing Ernakulam in the event.
