CHENNAI: R Rajesh’s breezy 92 was the feature of PS Senior SS’s 89-run win over Gill Adarsh in the TSN Trophy T20 cricket tournament.

Brief scores: Pon Vidyashram School, Injambakkam 178 for 5 in 20 overs (B Sujith Kumar 31, K Gnani 43, A Sarath Kumar 37) bt Amrita Vidyalayam SSS 117 for 6 in 20 overs (J Srimon 36). MoM: J Srimom.

PS Sr Sec School 169 in 19 overs (R Rajesh 92, Mir Mohammed Ali 4/23, Sudhakar 2/25) bt Gill Adarsh 80 in 17 overs (S Aravind Mahadevan 3/12, Abhishek Venkatesh 2/13, G Varun 2/9). MoM: R Rajesh.

Tennis Tourney

The TS Santhanam Memorial National veterans tennis championship will be organised by Mylapore Club from Jan 30 to Feb 4. The sixth edition of the championship will have 10 events with 200 veteran tennis players participating in the event. Matches will be played at the Mylapore Club, MCC, Egmore Tennis Stadium and Gymkhana Club courts. Total prize money is `10 lakh.

Prem Kumar Karra will be the tournament director, while Prof. Narasimhan will be the chief referee.

Double For Suneri

It was a grand double for K Suneri of Chennai in the Naidu Hall-Andhra Club Tamil Nadu state-level senior doubles badminton tournament on Sunday. Suneri partnering S Dharshini of Virudhnagar clinched the women’s doubles title defeating Anees and Amreen 21-11, 21-15 in the final at the Andhra Club badminton courts.

Suneri also clinched the mixed doubles title with Aditya Elango.

Naidu Hall Managing Director G Venugopal, Tamil Nadu Badminton Association president Hemant Kumar Sinha and Ganesan, IAS, were the chief guests and gave away the prizes.

Results: Final: Women: S Dharshini/K Suneri bt J Anees Kowser/G Amreen Mubarak (Vellore) 21-11, 21-15.

Mixed: K Suneri/Aditya Elango bt S Dharshini (Virudhnagar)/MR Manikandan (Chennai) 21-18, 21-19.

Men: MR Manikandan/ V Velavan (Chennai) bt M Naveen (Chennai)/V Vembarasan (Ponneri) 19-21, 21-13, 21-10.



Panimalar Score

Sarang and Sathish starred in Panimalar’s 25-21, 25-20, 27-25 win over SRM Academy in the SRM University Chennai District ‘A’ Division Volleyball League Championship. Vignesh performed well for SRM Academy.

Rakshitta champ

Rakshitta Ravi, daughter of International Master TS Ravi, bagged the State U-7 girls chess title in Tirupur. The six-year-old (1st standard student of DAV School, Gopalapuram) secured 10 points in 11 rounds, winning 10 games and losing one. Rakshitta will represent India in the Asian U-7 chess championship in Sri Lanka and the world championship in Slovenia later this year.
