Unlike other sides, Mizoram have had a fair number of supporters cheering for them in the ongoing Santosh Trophy. And the northeastern side has thoroughly entertained them. Midfielder David Lalrinmuana is ready to make history and bring more cheers when they face three-time champions Railways in the summit clash on Sunday.

David has been in electric form. Against Tamil Nadu, it was after David’s introduction that Mizoram started doing well. A versatile player, who plays at the heart of midfield, he is strong both defensively and offensively.

The 22-year-old is keen to inspire his team to their first title. “We have been excellent so far. I’m confident we can do well in the final. We will try to win,” David said.

David currently plays for his home club Aizawl FC. The former ONGC player revealed that the Mizoram Premier League has brought new hope in the state. “The league is very competitive. The tournament has given us a good platform to do well on the big stage,” he said.

Mizoram are yet to lose a match in the tournament. Other than David, skipper Zico Zoremsanga has scored crucial goals. Lalfakuala, on the left, has also been impressive. To boot it, their defense has been rock solid.

Meanwhile, three-time champions Railways will be missing their key defenders Vimal Kumar and Rajiv Boro due to suspension. Despite the setback, they will hope that their experience will see them through. They have been in the final on eight occasions before. Former Tamil Nadu stars P C Riju and S Rajesh will look to drive them to their fourth title.

Final: Mizoram vs Railways @ 6 pm, Live on DD Sports.
