NEDUMBASSERY: The second edition of PGTI Cochin Masters is all set to commence at CIAL Golf Club here on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the entire course was bustling with activity-players and caddies feeling out the course and the occasional worker executing some last minute changes. The second edition of the tournament features an enhanced prize purse of `55 Lakhs and features big names in Indian golf such as Gaganjeet Bhullar, Chikkarangappa, Shankar Das and Shubhankar Sharma.
Speaking to the media, CIAL Director ACK Nair said that the tournament would go a long way in helping promote golf among the common public. “The golf club has already got a huge impetus when the lawn bowls competition was conducted here. We are well on our way in popularising the sport in the state,” he said.
The Director of PGTI, Padamjit Sandhu, noted that it was a delightful experience to be back in Cochin for the PGTI Masters. “The strong field and perfect playing conditions will make for a riveting week of sport,” he said.
