KIEV: Russian-based midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko was added Saturday to Ukraine's provisional squad for Euro 2016.

Zinchenko, who plays with Russian side Ufa, was named by coach Mykhaylo Fomenko in his initial squad, but had not been included on the list published on the national federation's website.

The 19-year-old became the third Russian-based player added over the past four days and whose initial exclusion prompted debate about whether Ukraine's tense relations with Russia had affected the selection.

Ties between Moscow and Kiev are in tatters over Crimea's annexation in March 2014 and the subsequent pro-Russian insurgency in eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine will be competing in their second European Championship in Group C alongside Germany, Poland and Northern Ireland.

They will play friendly matches against Romania on Sunday and Albania on June 3 to prepare for the tournament.

Fomenko will have to cut his 29-man squad to 23 players by the end of the month.
