Zimbabwe wicketkeeper batsman Tatenda Taibu has called it quits from international cricket. The 29-year-old said he now wants to work for the church.

The diminutive player made his debut against West Indies in Harare in June 2001. His Test debut came the next month. In a 12-year career, Taibu represented the African nation in 28 Tests, 150 ODIs and 17 T20s.

"I just feel that my true calling now lies in doing the Lord's work," Taibu said, "and although I am fortunate and proud to have played for my country, the time has come for me to put my entire focus on that part of my life."

Taibu was named in Zimbabwe's provisional squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka in September.
