The BCCI might have decided to not announce the third member of the probe committee, but for the two judges, it has been a case of eternal wait. It has almost been 10 days since the probe committee was announced, but the two retired judges are yet to receive points of reference for the probe.

The BCCI had announced on May 26 two retired judges, Justice T Jayarama Chouta and Justice R Balasubramaniam besides board secretary Sanjay Jagdale to probe N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and CSK's alleged involvement in betting.

When contacted, Justice Chouta expressed ignorance about the Board's decision to go ahead with two judges. "Have they decided to set up just a two member panel?'' he asked saying that there was no official communication whatsoever from the Board on the issue.

When pointed out that the board had also decided to leave it to the discretion of the probe panel to fix the timeframe, Justice Chouta said that they can start the investigation only after a formal letter is received on the composition of the panel besides terms of reference for the probe. The panel couldn't start the probe following Jagdale's resignation and the BCCI's failure to replace him with another person.
