Tamil Nadu captain and Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper batsman has been picked as a second wicketkeeper for the Champions Trophy to be held in England.
Karthik’s inclusion has helped the selectors cover two bases that of the second wicketkeeper and third opener slot. “I am delighted and happy to be back in the side. I am looking forward to do well in England,’’ said Karthik.
Is Karthik mentally prepared for the job for being in and out of the team is not easy. “I have not yet thought about the Champions Trophy. I first want to do well and finish the IPL and then think about Champions Trophy. There is nothing like playing for India and if given an opportunity I will give my best,’’ said a cheerful Karthik. “I must thank the Mumbai Indians team management for promoting me to No 3.”
