CHENNAI: Half-centuries by Karan P Patel (57) and Rahul V Shah (52) enabled Gujarat to take a lead of 134 runs over Tamil Nadu on the second day of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy U-23, Elite Group A match played at SSN College grounds here on Tuesday. Tamil Nadu fared better in their second essay, and were comfortably place at 159 for 2 at stumps. Opener C Hari Nishaanth (66 batting) and GV Vignesh (56 batting) played sensibly and led Tamil Nadu’s fightback. The duo has added 94 runs in 31.4 overs for the unbroken third wicket partnership.

Grand double for Santhosh
R Santhosh Kumar of RTTA was in splendid form, as he won the boys’ junior and youth titles at the Sonaplas 8th Tamil Nadu state ranking table tennis tournament.
In the junior event, Santhosh beat Piyush Sagar of ERD 11-6, 11-7, 4-11, 11-9, 11-7. In the youth final, he earned a hard fought 8-11, 11-5, 11-3, 6-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9 win over Abinay of CTTF.
