NAGPUR: Punjab medium pacer Siddarth Kaul earned a maiden India call-up on Monday, as the selectors announced the squad for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli was rested and Rohit Sharma named the captain for these games.The squad for the third Test remains unchanged. As announced earlier, Shikhar Dhawan returns to the side.
Squad for the South Africa Test series was also scheduled to be named here on Monday. That selection meeting will now be held in New Delhi during the third Test starting on December 2. It was learnt that acting BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary’s flight to Nagpur got delayed and that’s why the meeting was postponed.
Mumbai’s Shreyas Iyer was named in the ODI squad, which has three specialist fast bowlers including Kaul. The Punjab seamer was part of the India U-19 World Cup winning squad in 2008, also captained by Kohli. All-rounder Hardik Pandya is also back after being rested for the Sri Lanka Tests.
