CHENNAI: On virtue of being top of the points table, Madurai Panthers advanced to the final of the TNPL after their Qualifier 1 tie against Trichy Grand Cholas was abandoned due to rain here on Sunday.
Put in to bat, Trichy had a disastrous start as they lost their skipper Suresh Kumar cheaply who was castled by Gurjapneet Singh.
Rajkumar K began well scoring fluently off an erratic P Vignesh. The heavens opened up when Trichy were 25 for 1 in 2.5 overs. After two hours, play began again and the match was reduced to a 13-over a side game. Rajkumar scored briskly and was at ease playing Madurai spinners Shoaib Mohammed Khan and Rohan Bhutra.When Trichy were 49 for 1 in 4.5 overs the game was halted once again due to rain.
