CARSON: Steven Gerrard will miss the L.A. Galaxy's next match after traveling home to Liverpool for treatment on his frequently injured hamstring.

Galaxy coach Bruce Arena confirmed Thursday that Gerrard won't play Sunday at Houston.

Gerrard missed four weeks with his persistent hamstring injury before playing as a substitute in the Galaxy's last two matches. The longtime Liverpool captain returned during the international break and was spotted outside the Reds' training complex.

The 36-year-old Gerrard has three goals and nine assists in 21 matches during the final season of his contract with the Galaxy, who have clinched a playoff berth. They're third in the Western Conference standings.

Arena doesn't know whether Robbie Keane will play Sunday. The Irish striker sat out of training this week with an undisclosed injury.
