Ram honoured

Ram Murali Krishnan was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution in the field of athletics at the 18th-anniversary celebrations of the St Joseph’s Sports Academy. Dr MS Nagarajan bagged the Special Vision award for his outstanding contribution towards the development of sports for physically challenged people in the Asian Pacific region. A total cash prize of `7 lakhs was distributed to various athletes, which included a scholarship for promising athletes.

Best athlete awards: Men: K Ganapathi (bronze medallist in Asian race walking c’ship 2016, qualified for world race walking c’ship 2016 and also participated in Rio Olympics 2016). Women: G Gayathry (bronze medalist in 60m hurdles at Asian indoor athletics c’ship at Doha in 2016).
