CHENNAI:S Danush and Sharon Mary Cherian clinched the Group I individual championships at the 27th Madras District Aquatic Association inter-school swimming meet for Chennai district schools held at Lady Andal School’s ORCA Pool on Sunday. N Krishnan, president of MDAA, Dr Sadayavel Kailasam, MDAA secretary, and KK Mukundan, former national coach and current coach at ORCA Club, felicitated individual champions with a cycle, trophy and a swimming kit bag.

Individual champions: Group I: Boys: S Danush (Akshayah School, 25 points), Girls: Sharon Mary Cherian (The Schram Academy, 25). Group II: Boys: Harish Balaji (Agarwal Vidyalaya, 25), Girls: Priyanga Pugazharasu (Christ Church, 25). Group III: Boys: Krishna Pranav (Sir Mutha School, 25), Girls: Monicka Pugazharasu (Christ Church, 19). Group IV: Boys: PR Kathiroli (Sri Ram Dayal Khemka VV Junior College, 25), Girls: P Preshetha (Chennai Public School, 25). Group V: Boys: Deepak Nahar (Guru Shree Shanthi Vijay Jain Vidhyalaya, 13), Girls: D Swathi (KV, 15). Group VI: Boys: Samrudh V (Velammal Vidhyashram, 15), Girls: (St Britto’s Academy, 15). Group VII: Boys: K Mitesh (SBOA , 20), Girls: Madhushree S (Ravindra Bharathi Global School, 20).

Kaushik cracks ton
Kaushik Gandhi celebrated his inclusion in the Tamil Nadu team for the Vijay Hazare trophy with a punishing century that helped Jolly Rovers beat IOB in the first round of the VA Parhasarathy Memorial Trophy limited-overs tournament — organised by TNCA — at the IIT Chemplast grounds. Gandhi and M Shahrukh Khan added 98 runs in 102 balls for the second wicket. For IOB, K Bharat Reddy and AG Pradeep cracked half-centuries.

Arjun scalps five
G Arjun’s 5/19 enabled BSCA to beat Velammal New Gen Park by 113 runs in the Thiruvallur District Cricket Association’s U-12 inter-academy tournament.
