Professional golf in India is set to get a major fillip with DP World PGTI announcing the launch of the 'Race to DP World India Championship'. This will be an important feature in this season’s competition.
It will determine the season's top performers and their route to the $4 million DP World India Championship that is set to be played at the Delhi Golf Course from October 15 to 18.
According to a statement, this will help restructure the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) calendar to align with the DP World Tour calendar, giving the PGTI members more playing opportunities.
According to a statement, the Race to DP World India Championship will feature non-stop golfing action on the DP World PGTI calendar in the run-up to the DP World India Championship 2026.The nine tournaments featuring in the Race are set to offer a combined prize purse of Rs 10 crore taking the total prize purse to Rs 41 crore.
The first three events of the Race – J&K Open, Coal India Open and Kolar Open – have already concluded as they were held in the first three weeks of August. The Race will conclude with the inaugural Kapil Dev Invitational Tour Championship which will be held at Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida, from September 30 – October 3.
