

TIRUPATI: Sri Venkateswara Bhakti Channel (SVBC) of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) will welcome New Year by telecasting a colourful devotional programme.
TTD Executive Officer KV Ramanachary held a meeting here today with the heads of various departments, including Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP), Annamacharya Project (AP) and Dasa Sahithya Project, to give final touches to the two-and-ahalf- hour programme which will be telecast from 10 pm on December 31.
The unique programme will commence with Nadaswaram, followed by mellifluous devotional songs by upcoming child artistes, celebrities’ viewpoint on New Year, Kolatam, folk songs and dances. It will end with Mangalasasanam by TTD’s Pedda Jeeyyar Swamy after Tiruppavai.
Rendering of Srinivasa Gadyam by 1,000 students of TTD-run educational institutions will be the highlight of the programme. The Gadyam is penned by Srisailam Srirangacharya, eulogising the greatness of Venkateswara as well as the holy Tirumala Hills, the abode of the Lord.
The devotional programme is aimed at ushering in the New Year in an auspicious manner which augurs well for devotees.
The TTD Executive Officer also reviewed arrangements for Bhaja Govindam programme, which will be held in temples all over the State on Vaikuntha Ekadasi on January 7.
As part of the programme, bhajans will be performed in temples from 6 am to 8 pm.
The TTD will distribute prasadam to about 5 lakh members of bhajan troupes after the end of the programme.
