GUNTUR: Tension prevailed at Challagundla village in Guntur district on Monday, when the body of Julakanti Srinivasa Reddy alias Moddu seenu was brought from Anantapur.  The villagers and relatives of Seenu staged a rasta roko on Addanki-Narasaraopet Highway for more than three hours.

Moddu Seenu’s wife Lakshmi Rajyam and mother Ramakotamma expressed doubts over the post-mortem report and alleged that he was shot dead as there was a whole on his forehead.

Terming it as a pre-planned murder, they alleged that the Congress Government had failed to provide additional security to Moddu Seenu, after he intended to turn an approver and expressed threat to his life from the accused in Paritala Ravi murder case.  They questioned the Government’s sincerity as srinu was lodged in a common cell.

The relatives alleged that they were not informed about the post-mortem of Moddu Seenu and handed over the body of Seenu  in a casual manner and no higher official was present.

Demanding a CBi inquiry into the incident, the wife and mother of Moddu Seenu  demanded shifting of jail officials for impartial inquiry.

After three hours of rasta roko, they gave up the agitation when Vinukonda circle inspector M Hanumantha Rao convinced them and arranged talks with Narasaraopet DSP. At last the relatives removed the body from the highway and made funeral arrangements at Challagundla village.

Moddu Seenu  is the eldest son of Ramakotamma, a teacher who settled in Challagundla after she was transferred from Veldurthi. Srinu  studied BA at SKRBR degree college at Narsaraopet and worked as driver of a school bus.

Later  Seenu fell in love with Lakshmi Rajyam of Konkalagutna village and married her 14 years ago.  Srinu  has a daughter Kantisri (12) and son Santosh Reddy (7).
