HYDERABAD: Eminent writer Kethu Vishwanadha Reddy will be presented the Prathibha Murthi Lifetime Achievement award for the year 2009 during the four-day drama festival to be held at Kadapa from January 8 to 11.

The Hyderabad-based Appajosyula- Vishnubhotla-Kandalam (AVK) Foundation is presenting the award to Reddy for his contribution to Telugu literature.

The award comprising Rs 1 lakh, a citation and a memento is being given to distinguished persons for their contribution to Telugu language, fine arts, theatre and social service. Dhara Ramanatha Sastry, Peesapati Narasimha Murthy, Nanduri Ramamohana Rao, PV Narasimha Rao and many others were among those who were conferred with the award since 1994. The Foundation will also present Visishta Saahitya Seva Murthi Lifetime Award to disting u i s h e d p e r s o n s i n Telugu literature.

Addressing mediapersons here today, AVK Foundation Director K Janakiramacharyulu said the objective of the four-day event is to promote Telugu theatre and encourage untapped talent in the State. As part of the event, a State level one-act play competitions will be conducted for six drama teams selected from different parts of the State. Cash incentives along with mementos will be presented to the winners of the competition, he said.
