

HYDERABAD: Sitting BJP MLA Pendem Dorababu on Wednesday joined the ruling Congress in the presence of PCC chief D Srinivas and Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy at Gandhi Bhavan here. The MLA who represents Pitapuram constituency claims that he has joined the Congress impressed by the developmental and welfare programmes undertaken by the Rajasekhara Reddy Government.
“I am committed for integrated State,” he noted.
Welcoming the BJP MLA into the party, Srinivas said that Dorababu though elected on BJP ticket, has been acting as per Congress ideology.
Later addressing a press conference along with Minister for Small Scale Industries Gollapalli Surya Rao, Dorababu said that `migration’ of people in Pitapuram of East Godavari district has been stopped after implementation of programmes like Indiramma, Rajiv Arogyasri, distribution of pensions etc. “I have never criticised Congress Government schemes in the Assembly during the last four-and-a-half years,” he said. Replying to a query, he said he would not leave Congress even if the party does not offer a ticket to contest in the next polls. As for resignation to the MLA post, a decision would be taken after consultingpeople of the constituency, he added.
