HYDERABAD: With increasing rains being reported across the State, the State Government has plunged into action to initiate adequate measures to prevent outbreak of vectorborne diseases in the State.

The medical officers of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) have been directed to rush to sub-centres in rural areas and take up door-to-door survey to identify sick people suffering with viral diseases.

Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the PHC Medical Officers to work in tandem with the staff of Malaria Eradication Programme to take up campaigns and create awareness among public on pot chlorination, usage of boiled water for drinking and spraying of anti-larval material at water stagnation points. The officials were instructed to clear the debris and garbage dumps on daily basis.

The Chief Minister asked senior officers to visit tribal areas and also affected areas to provide required medical services.

Rajasekhara Reddy wanted the officials to inform the district-level authorities about the cases of malaria and other viral diseases to ensure coordination between different departments.

The officials were asked to work along with private doctors and hospitals to identify cases of dengue, chikungunya, cerebral malaria or other viral diseases.
