HYDERABAD: Soon after Parliament Member YS Jaganmohan Reddy shocked everybody in the Congress party by siding with the TDP members in the Lok Sabha today in New Delhi and expressed his desire for `Samaikhyandhra’, his uncle and MLC YS Vivekananda Reddy did a similar act in the State Capital. In a surprise act, Vivekananda Reddy started his `deeksha’ for `Samaikhyandhra’ in front of the State Secretariat.

Vivekananda Reddy and a few other Congress leaders today came to pay tributes to Potti Sriramulu on his death anniversary and paid floral tributes to the latter’s statue located in front of the State Secretariat.

The MLC, who is also brother of former Chief Minister lat e YS Rajasekhara Reddy, took everyone by surprise when he announced to launch his `deeksha’ on the spot.

Though he did not make any commitment on the type of dheeksha he is observing, Vivekananda Reddy and his followers started raising slogans for `Samaikhyandhra’ even as passersby started gathering.

Realising that the situation was going out of hands, the police personnel quickly whisked away the MLC and his followers to the Goshamahal police station.

Vivekananda Reddy told mediapersons that Telugu people should not be divided as it would weaken them and stall further development.

He d emanded that Andhra Pradesh can be divided only after developing all the backward areas.

Later, the police shifted him to Kadapa.
