Pratibha Rajiv Puraskars awards announced

The State Government has announced the Pratibha Rajiv Puraskars to be awarded to eminent personalities.

HYDERABAD: The State Government has announced the Pratibha Rajiv Puraskars for the years 2006, 2007 and 2008 to be awarded to eminent personalities in various fields ranging from music to literature and research to folk arts. The Puraskar Selection Committee comprising actor Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, singer Vedavati Prabhakar and Dr P Dayaratnam, Monday submitted the list of awardees to Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Information and Public Relations Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Andhra Pradesh State Film, Theatre and Television Development Corporation Managing Director C Parthasarathi were present on the occasion.

The Puraskars were introduced in 2004 and the State Government has already presented the awards for 2004 and 2005.

The awardees will receive Rs 50,000 in cash, a memento and a citation from the State Government as part of the Puraskar.

The Pratibha Rajiv Puraskars for the year 2006 will be presented to Nedunuri Krishnamurthy (music), Dasarathi Rangacharya (literature), Bapu and Ramana (painting), Pattapagalu Venkat Rao (social service), Chukka Sattaiah (folk arts), and Rajeswari Sainath (dance).

Fo r ye a r 2 0 0 7 , the awardees are Neti Sriramamurty (music), Yaddanapudi Sulochana Rani (literature), Nalluri Venkateswarlu (theatre), Chalapati Rao (folk arts), Swati Somanath (dance), and Rahmatullah Khan (research).

The recipients of the Puraskars for the year 2008, are Revati Ratnaswamy (music), Karnati Lakshmi Narsaiah (theatre), Betavolu Ramabrahmam (literature), GL Rao (research), Snehalatha Murali (folk arts), and V Harikishan (mimicry).
