HYDERABAD: The Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) announced the State committee of its women’s wing, Mahila Rajyam, here today. A city-based advocate, Shobha Rani, has been appointed convener of the committee.

PRP Political Affairs Committee member Shobha Nagireddy announced the committee at a press conference.

Dr V Vijaya Laxmi has been appointed executive convener of the committee.

Tadi Sakunthala, Nirmala Ramaiah, SK Nurjahan, R Nagalaxmi and Thulasi Nehru were appointed vice-presidents of the committee while P Sarojini, Dr V Girikumari, J Sailaja, M Dhanalxmi and K Sailaja Reddy were appointed general secretaries.

J Vijaya, B Ramadevi, M Rathnakumari and S Jayasri will be the official spokespersons of the committee. Shobha Nagireddy also announced Mahila Rajyam committees for five districts.

She said V Kalyani would be the convener of the Srikakulam district committee while R Saraswathi, Dr S Hemalatha, K Padmawathi and R Rajya Laxmi would be the conveners of the committees in Mahaboobnagar, Prakasam, West Godavari and Adilabad districts respectively.

Speaking on the appointment of Shobha Rani as convener of Mahila Rajyam, Shobha Nagireddy said since Rani had raised her voice against issues pertaining to women on many occasions, she had been chosen for the post.

Shobha Rani said Mahila Rajyam would take up women’s problems and strive for solutions. Dismissing the TDP's objection to Chiranjeevi garlanding the statue of NT Rama Rao, Shobha said NTR was an ideal leader for all political parties.
