HYDERABAD: For early detection of pregnancy, especially in rural are as, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Government of India) is launching ‘Nishchay’, a home-based test kit.
The instant testing kits will be made available to women through Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) free of cost.
The Nishchay kit will enable women to seek timely antenatal care for delivery of a healthy baby.
It will also promote contraceptive spacing methods and family planning services apart from helping to avoid unsafe abortions due to social and medical compulsions.
The test kits will be provided to eligible women through ASHAs after imparting training in their use.
Formally launching the Nishchay kits here today, Minister for Health and Family Welfare D Nagender said that about 40 lakh kits would be made available to all urban and rural women from July 1. HLL Life Care Limited and its non-profit organisation, Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust, will undertake the coordination of all promotional and training activities regarding the kits.
