HYDERABAD: South Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Panabaka Krishnaiah who took voluntary retirement to plunge into politics, today asserted that he would dedicate his life to serve people and welfare of society.

He would file his nomination papers as a Congress candidate for Gudur (SC) Assembly segment on April 4.

At a felicitation function organised by the SCR employees here, the 54-year old Krishnaiah said that he took voluntary retirement from the service in order to join politics.

“I want to reach out to people from all walks of life to render service. I and my wife (Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi) have decided to dedicate our lives to serve the society,” he claimed.

Referring to his 14-year career as CPRO in South Central Railways, Krishnaiah informed that earlier there was a feeling that a post in PR Public Relations) department in railways was a `loop line’ as it had distanced itself f rom the people.

At present, there was no `secrecy’ in railways as every information was being passed on to the people through the media.

“We (PR personnel) should go to the people instead of making them to come to us,” he added. On this occasion, members representing various publications recalled their association with Krishnaiah.
