KADAPA: The works for increasing the capacity of Pothireddypadu Head Regulator have been completed, according to Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
Addressing a press conference here today, the Chief Minister said with the increasing of the head regulator’s capacity to 40,000 cusecs, three districts of Rayalaseema - Kurnool, Kadapa and Chittoor - would get sufficient waters from Srisailam dam to meet both drinking and irrigation requirements.
This would also enable the utilisation of flood waters, which had been going waste into the sea, all these years, he said.
Later, Rajasekhara Reddy reviewed rural water supply works, the progress of Indiramma housing scheme and the performance of the R and B department.
Reddy urged the officials to complete the pending water supply works as well as widening of roads on war-footing.
Responding to ZPTC member Sivamohan Reddy’s allegations about irregularities in the housing and pension schemes, the Chief Minister asked his personal secretary to set up a committee to go into the charges.
He assured action against those found guilty.
When some members informed that municipalities were facing severe fund crunch and unable to take up works, the Chief Minister asked the officials to send proposals on fund requirements.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister’s son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy attended the official review meeting today also much to the surprise of people’s representatives and officials.
Joint Collector Girija Sankar, sitting MPs and MLAs and district officials were present.
