HYDERABAD: Did TRS’ K Chandrasekhara Rao blackmail the Grand Alliance partners, thus bagging maximum number of seats and becoming responsible for the alliance’s poor show in the elections? CPI state secretary K Narayana definitely feels so.
Briefing mediapersons on the deliberations at the Party State Secretariat meeting, Narayana said that the TRS after wresting 45 seats, won only 10 thus becoming the chief contributor to the demolition of the opposition alliance.
But the CPI instead of nursing its wounds forever would bounce back into public life. After analysing the results of the elections, the party came to a conclusion that from now on they have to building a stronger people’s movement to broaden and consolidate its presence across the State.
The Secretariat meeting felt that as the people had rejected the CPM and the TRS, it was the opportune time for the CPI to begin working with the people and improve its image. Some leaders in the meeting felt that there was a need for a Left front in the State to take up struggles on public issues inturn finding its way into the hearts of the people.
Some leaders felt that if the TDP’s performance was dismal in the election, it was because of the TRS and the CPM who contested more seats than they could win.
The newly elected four CPI MLAs would meet on Monday at the State party office to elect their Legislature party leader.
