

VISAKHAPATNAM: The general elections have thrown up many interesting verdicts of the electorate. One of them that has been witnessed in the three districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts is that each district has elected one woman MP. Out of the total five MP seats in the three districts, three have been captured by women candidates.
Suprisingly, out of 34 Assembly seats, only four have gone to the fair sex.
In Srikakulam district, which has 10 Assembly and one Lok Sabha segments, Killi Kruparani of Congress was elected MP, while sitting woman MLA Boddepalli Satyavathi of Congress was elected from Amadalavalasa segment in the district.
Similarly, in Vizianagaram district, which has nine Assembly and one Lok Sabha seats, two women candidates-- K Lalita Kumari and S Jayamani were elected MLAs from S.Kota and Parvatipuram segments respectively, while Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi was elected MP from Vizianagaram Lok Sabha seat.
Of 15 Assembly and three Lok Sabha seats in Visakhapatnam district, D Purandheswari was elected from Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha, while Bolem Mutyalapapa was elected from Narsipatnam Assembly segment.
