PRP manifesto dangles carrots for all

HYDERABAD: The final manifesto of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) unveiled at a news conference here today more or less endorses its draft manifesto, which vowed to usher in “social Telangana” (Samajika Telangana), supply provisions at Rs 100, LPG refil at Rs 100 and free gas connection to the poor among others.

Releasing it, PRP president Chiranjeevi said it was prepared keeping the short-term and long-term measures for the uplif of the downtrodden in view.

All the promises would be implemented in a time-bound schedule.

Chiranjeevi said that they did not believe in populist schemes like giving colour TVs and cash transfer.

The following are the highlights of the manifesto:

TELANGANA: All legal and statutory measures will be taken. Party will strive to esablish Social Telangana.

WEAKER SECTIONS: Five kitchen commodities and gas refill will be given for Rs 100. Free gas connections will be given to poor families. The cost of houses under rural and urban housing will be enhanced to Rs 80,000 and Rs 1 lakh respectively. Two sarees and dhotis will be given to each poor family in a year.

SCHEDULED CASTES: Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Act) will be implemented more effectively and enough care will be taken to prevent its misuse. SC Cooperative Finance Corporation will be strengthened financially and managerially.

Manual scavenging will be abolished and the affected will be rehabilitated.

Hostel accommodation for SC students will be improved. Tribal University, Health Directorate, Museum and a Tribal Institute of Medicine will be introduced. The tribal habitations will be converted as village panchayats.

BACKWARD CLASSES : A statutory backward classes commission will be established. ESI and gratuity schemes will be implemented for weavers. Toddy tappers will be provided with tree rights. A welfare board for fishermen will be set up. Insurance scheme for sheep would be introduced and the government will bear the premium. Construction jobs up to one crore will be allotted to the Sagaras without EMD.

ECONOMICALLY BACKWARD CLASSES: A separate EBC finance corporation will be set up. All eligible students will be provided scholarships.

Twenty-five per cent seats will be allotted to the them.

MINORITIES: Job opportunities will be provided in the police and paramilitary forces. Special study circles will be established to prepare the youth for All-India Services examinations.

SENIOR CITIZENS: Pension for senior citizens will be enhanced to Rs 500 from Rs 200. Old-age homes will be set up in all the districts. Senior citizens will be given 50 per cent concession in RTC fares. A separate department will be set up for them.

GOVT EMPLOYEES AND TEACHERS : House sites will be given at reasonable rates.

Loan amount will be enhanced to Rs 10 lakh from Rs 3 lakh. Additional 10 per cent interim relief will be given.

Women will be provided 50 per cent reservation in teachers’ recruitment. The services of temporary teachers in degree, junior colleges and vidya volunteers will be regularised.

WOMEN: Under Pasupu Kumkuma scheme Rs 1 lakh will be deposited in the name of a girl child. The amount will be handed over to her on attainment of 18.

For their education Rs 50,000 will be spent. All girls of SC, ST and BC sections will be imparted free education from LKG to post-graduation level.

The stamp duty on property registration will be reduced by 50 per cent.

Pregnant women will be given Rs 1,000 every month before and after three months of delivery.

FARMERS: Praja Rythu Bandhu Pathakam will be introduced under which farmers will be given Rs 3,000 as pension after they attain 55 years of age. For this, a farmer has to pay Rs 50 every month. The government will add another Rs 50 to it.

YOUTH: About 10 lakh jobs will be created in 1,000 days. Training will be given to the youth to get proper employment.

The unemployed will get Rs 1,000 per month.

PROHIBITION: Belt shops will be abolished immediately and prohibition on consumption of liquor will be introduced in a phased manner.
