TIRUPATI: Nandi tv film awards for the year 2007 were presented at a colourful function held at Mahathi Auditorium here today.

Minister for Information and Public Relations and Cinematography Anam Ramnarayan Reddy expressed his happiness over the conduct of the event in the temple town. Earlier, all the award functions used to be held in Hyderabad only. Now, the award functions are being held at places other than the State capital, at the behest of Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who needs to be appreciated for his initiative to give prominence to other towns and cities in AP, he said.

The State Government had also decided to conduct award presentation functions on a fixed date every year coinciding with important festivals or events. Henceforth, Nandi cinema awards will be presented every year on Telugu New Year Day Ugadi and Nandi TV film awards on October 23, marking the invention of radio, he said.

Later, Nandi TV awards were presented to noted personalities in the categories of telefilms, TV features, mega TV serials, TV daily serials, TV children’s films, TV documentary films, TV educational films and TV socially relevant films. ‘Athithi’ and ‘Jabili’ were selected as the first and second best telefilms respectively and ‘Muvvala Savvadi’ and ‘Relarerela... Dummulepu’ as the first and second best television features.

Film director K Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Narada Leelalu’ was adjudged the best mega TV serial.
