HYDERABAD: The Central Power Distribution Company of AP (APCPDCL) today signed five power purhcase agreements (PPAs) with wind power project developers of 800 kw capacity each, totalling 4,000 kw capacity at the rate of Rs.3.54 paise per unit. Initialing PPAs with more number of wind power generators is in pipeline, an official press release said today.
About 200 mw wind power generation capacity addition is expected in the State by the end of 21010-2011 and this will help the APTransco and Discoms to bridge the gap between demand and supply to some extent besides helping the environment, the press release said.
The State is bestowed with 2000 mw wind power genration capacity and to harness this, the State has announced wind power policy which the AP Electricity Regulatory Commission adopted and fixed the price at which it could purchase power from the wind power generation units, the press release said.
