HYDERABAD: Not satisfied with the explanation given by former State NSUI president Ch Vamshi Chand Reddy to the show cause notice (for attacks on Reliance outlets) issued to him on January 9, the Andhra Pradesh Congress

Committee today expelled him from the party for a six year period.

It may be recalled that APCC president D Srinivas had issued a show cause notice to Vamshi Chand Reddy seeking an explanation for allegedly sending SMSes to the party cadre and directing them to attack Reliance outlets across

the State. Accordingly, several Reliance outlets which included super markets,

petrol bunks etc in various districts in the State were attacked by angry Congress workers in protest against the alleged involvement of Ambani brothers

behind the death of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter crash on September 2 last year. The APCC chief, in an order issued toVamshi Chand Reddy, has informed about his expulsion from the primary membership of the Congress party with immediate effect.

The decision was based on a recommendation made by the APCC screening and enquiry committee.

The committee, in its report submitted to D Srinivas yesterday, informed that it

has verified all the factual information before coming to a conclusion on the issue.

It has expressed dissatisfaction to the explanation given by Vamshi on January 12, and felt that it (factual information) attracted a lot of embarassment to the

party and was thoroughly against party’s discipline and principles.
