HYDERABAD:  Senior Congress leaders and brothers R Damodar Reddy and R Venkat Reddy made conflicting statements on continuation of the Congress in the Telangana JAC.

While Damodar Reddy maintained that the Congress leaders from Telangana

were very much part of the JAC, his brother and Minister Venkat Reddy asserted that the Congress would lead  the Telangana agitation on its own and

as such it did not require any support from the JAC.

Damodar Reddy made it clear today that the Congress would not leave the

Telangana JAC. Talking to newsmen at the New MLA Quarters here today, he

blamed the media for putting out reports that the Congress had come out of the JAC.

“The question of leaving JAC does not arise since it was the Congress which had floated the political JAC on December 23, 2009 (the day Union Home

Minister P Chidambaram made a second statement on Telangana). Some

‘forces' were conspiring to obstruct the ongoing Telangana movement.

People of the region would boycott a section of media which was trying to

mislead the people,'' he warned. On the other hand, Venkat Reddy asserted that

the State Congress was in no way concerned with the political JAC.

``Telangana Congress is not concerned with the JAC. JAC members are

abusing our party MLAs and workers.

Whatever has to be done on Telangana issue, the Congress will do it. Both Telangana ministers and MLAs  have decided to go to Delhi for the purpose.

Even after the State's bifurcation, our goal is to bring the Congress in power in Telangana as well as in Andhra,'' he said.

Meanwhile, Damodar Reddy said the proposed Telangana Congress political

action committee would function on the lines of Politburo of other political parties.

Committee members who include MLAs, MLCs, ZP chairpersons and others

representing all districts in the region would take decisions prior to attending

the meetings convened by the Telangana political JAC.

Referring to his meeting with JAC convenor Prof Kodandaram, Reddy said

that he had asked him to keep aside his personal views, if any, on Telangana

issue. “His (Kodandaram) job is only to tell about the decisions taken by the

JAC. All parties, including the Congress, should abide by the decisions

taken by the JAC,'' he added.

With regard to Union Minister and incharge of AP affairs M Veerappa

Moily's statement that no efforts should be made for `dissolving the State Assembly', Damodar Reddy asserted that they have no intention to dethrone the

Congress Government in the State. ``We were left with no option, but to resign

to the posts. The Telangana movement is going on peacefully,'' he noted.
