VISAKHAPATNAM:  City police on Thursday arrested four persons accused in the murder case of Intermediate student R Aswani Mrudula. They would be produced before court on Friday.

Speaking to mediapersons along with the accused commissioner of police J Purnachandra Rao said the main accused in the case Chintala Siva Ramakrishna is a barber by profession and a resident of Dondaparthy. The other accused are Mangalagiri Kalyan, Mangalagiri Prateep Kumar and Chana Srinivas Rao.

The Commissioner said Siva Ramakrishna had taken money from private lenders and was unable to repay the amount. With the support of Kalyan, Prateep and Srinivas Rao, he made a plan to extort money from people.

As per the plan, they went door to door to give facial and saloon services. On March 29, they went to Mrudula’s house. At around 11 am, Ramakrishna, who had visited Mrudula’s house several times and was known to her family, went to her flat while she was alone.  Mrudula opened the door and gave them a glass of water. They made Mrudula unconscious  by using chloroform and then slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon.

Then they took her gold rings and a chain and fled. Two days after the incident, Ramakrishna left for Varanasi. Meanwhile, his father Appala Naidu lodged a complaint at III Town police that his son was missing.
