HYDERABAD: TDP founder N T Rama Rao’s widow Lakshmi Parvati today said she is keen to have an out-of-court settlement with her late husband’s family although her stepson N Balakrishna insists she is not the lawfully wed wife of the former chief minister.

“I want to settle the disputes through discussion.

Fighting will spoil the reputation of NTR,” Lakshmi Parvati said.

Ruling on a case that had been hanging fire for two years, the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) directed NTR’s family not to violate Lakshmi Parvati’s personal rights and refrain from harassing her. It also ordered security for her.

While expressing happiness over the SHRC’s direction, Lakshmi Parvati said she needed no security as “there is no threat to her from any member of the NTR family. All of them respect me. I want to close the matter with this.” NTR’s son Balakrishna told the rights body that Parvati was not the wife of NT Rama Rao.

Despite this, Parvati said she wanted to settle her legal disputes with the NTR family out of court. “Fighting long legal battles will be a financial burden. Fighting over NTR’s legacy is also not good for his image.’’ Lakshmi Parvati said that sometime ago Balakrishna did discuss a compromise with his father’s second wife.

She wanted to be appointed to the committee running t h e NTR Museum .

“Balakrishna agreed to this.

But someone put a spanner in the works,” Lakshmi Parvati claimed.he alleged that it was Chandrababu Naidu who worked behind the scenes to isolate her.
