VISAKHAPATNAM: Twenty-four hours after the Intermediate first year student R Aswani Mrudula was brutally done to death in her apartment, investigators are still struggling to get any clue in the case.

However, the police are probing whether someone known to the family, eyeing on their property, had killed the girl. However, the parents of the victim have not pointed their finger to anyone so far.

An intruder slit Mrudula's throat and dumped the body in the bathroom of her flat at Metro apartments in Dondaparthy in afternoon on Tuesday.

The culprit tied her limbs before killing her.

Police sources said one Mrudula's grandparents who live in Isakathota area in the city, made her their legal heir. Police suspect that somebody known to her or family, eyeing on her property, might have committed the crime.

It is learnt that victim's father, R Appala Naidu, a petrol bunk owner at Dondaparthi in the city, informed the police about the murder.

"He is giving contradicting versions about the possible motives behind the murder.

None of the family members were at home when the crime took place,'' the police said.
