HYDERABAD: With an aim to empower the adolescent girls in the age group of 11 to 18 years, the Central government chose seven districts in the state for implementation of ‘SABLA’ also known as the Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls (RGSEAG) for the current financial year. The government will take up various programmes for empowerment of adolescent girls by improving their nutritional and health status, upgradation of home skills, life skills and vocational skills.

The state government issued orders for implementation of the pilot project of  SABLA scheme in the districts of Mahaboobnagar, Adilabad, Chittoor, Anantapur, Visakhapatnam, West Godavari and Hyderabad. The scheme will be initially implemented in 200 districts across the country.

In these selected districts, SABLA will replace the existing Nutrition Programme for Adolescent Girls (NPAG) and Kishori Shakti Yojana (KSY). Awareness will be created among girls on health and family welfare, hygiene and guidance on existing public services like primary healthcare centres, post office, bank and police station as part of the scheme.
