KARIMNAGAR/NELLORE: Adding to the Hantavirus scare in the state, one more person died of the condition at a private hospital in Hyderabad Wednesday. In addition, two more suspected cases of Hantavirus infection were reported from Karimnagar and Nellore districts. But the government maintained there have been no confirmed cases of Hantavirus infections. B Bhagavan Rao, a 55-year-old postal department employee from Choppadandi in Karimnagar district, was admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad on Oct. 15 with high fever.The hospital tested him for dengue and chikungunya and other condition, but all results were negative. With his condition deteriorating, he was put under ventilator support. The doctors at the hospital said the tests they conducted confirmed that it was a Hantavirus infection. Another patient, Poshetti Narsavva of Illanthakunta mandal in Karimnagar district, also displayed similar symptoms and is undergoing treatment at the same hospital in Hyderabad.

Another suspected case of Hantavirus infection was reported from Nellore. R Avinash, a nine-year-old boy from Brahamanapalli village in Podalakooru mandal, has been suffering with high fever and body pains for the past one week.

After local doctors referred the boy to a private hospital in Chennai, the boy was reportedly confirmed as a Hantavirus case. Officials discounted this as a rumour.
