The Brahmin community in Andhra Pradesh seem to have declared that they are ‘Denikaina Ready’ to fight against movies and movie makers who allegedly show Hindu culture and Brahmin communities in poor light.
Several Brahmin organisations in the state staged a day-long dharna at Hyderabad on Sunday, demanding that either the objectionable scenes be removed from the movie ‘Denikaina Ready’ or the movie itself be banned. “If the government does not respond to our demand within three days, we will stage an indefinite strike,” state president of AP Brahmana Seva Sangha Samakya V Chandra Mouli said.
Protesters from four organisations from Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Nellore, Guntur, Karimnagar and Medak - Brahmana Sangala- JAC, Brahmana Srivaishnava Seva Samithi, Vedagayatri Agraharam and AP Brahmana Sangala Samakya - gathered in the city for a day-long dharna.
“Manchu Mohan Babu and his son Vishnu should apologise for their remarks that we are fake Brahmins and their claim that we have been taking money to protest,” Mouli said, demanding immediate arrest of the men who attacked the Brahmin protestors on Wednesday when they had gone to Mohan Babu’s house in Film Nagar.
A member of Gayathri Agraharam Prabhakar Sharma claimed that the Brahmin protestors had suffered serious injuries in the attack. “We demand that Mohan Babu and his team tender an apology to every victim who was beaten up in the protest.”
The organisations submitted a petition to the AP State Human Rights Commission on Thursday against Babu and his team members and sought justice. “As no action has been taken so far, we have staged the dharna,” Sharma said. The Brahmin organisations expressed their gratitude to the BJP, MRPS and other organisations for supporting their protest against the films. Members of Brahmana Sangala JAC, B Srinivasa Sharma, S Ravi Sharma and Sudarshan Sharma and Telangana Archakula Samakya president B Rama Sharma spoke.
