The newly-formed Telangana Rashtriya Lok Dal (TRLD) has decided to attract dissidents in the TRS who are not comfortable with party president K Chandrasekhar Rao’s style of functioning and the way he is steering the Telangana agitation.
The party has started efforts to invite close relatives and friends of Chandrasekhar Rao’s family into the TRLD reportedly in an attempt to ‘expose’ KCR family members’ power politics in the name of Telangana demand.
RLD president Ajit Singh launched TRLD for the Telangana region at Hyderabad recently.
Some of the leaders of the newly-formed party feel that Ajit Singh’s decision has given new hope to all Telangana activists who were unable digest TRS politics.
According to a TRLD leader when Chaudhary Charan Singh was alive, the party, Lok Dal, had a base in the state. Now the TRLD was working on the same lines to strengthen its network in the region.
“The real strength of the TRS was proved in Mahbubnagar and Parkal byelections. This was the right time to strengthen TRLD in the region,” the TRLD leader says. The TRS had lost the Mahbubnagar bypoll to the BJP while it scraped through with a thin majority at Parkal.
The TRLD leaders are hoping that second and third rung leaders from many political parties, especially the erstwhile PRP, will join their bandwagon.
RLD MP Jayanth Singh, son of party chief Ajit Singh, is coming to the city on October 17 for the inauguration of party office. Party leaders feel that several leaders will join the party on that day.
“We are not bothered whether TRLD will be a success or not. But the party will succeed in providing an alternative platform to Telangana activists,” says a TRLD leader.
