INS Ranvijay which won the Best Ship Trophy in Fling-2012, is a Rajput Class Destroyer. The warship with a motto of ‘Always Ready’,  aptly symbolises its combat preparedness. It was adjudged the best among all the 58 warships of the Eastern Fleet. Earlier, the warship won three other awards, including the Surface-to-Surface Missile Trophy, Anti-Submarine Warfare Proficiency Trophy and the Trophy for the Best Engineering Department. The Weapon Arm of the Eastern Naval Command epitomises the courage, spirit and élan of a fighting force.

The traditional Annual Fleet Evening (FLING) marks the culmination of a year-long toil and the relentless pursuit for professional excellence.  FLING also provides an opportunity to commend the stellar performances of individual units in various activities in the year gone by.

Commissioned on January 15, 1988, the 5k-tonne warship with a powerful punch, is manned by 300 sailors and 30 officers. The ship affiliated to Dogra Regiment of the Indian Army, is a major combatant of the Eastern Fleet under the operational command of the Flag Officer Commanding. It is a weapon that enables the Navy to truly demonstrate its bluewater capabilities. The versatile warship can perform a variety of tasks like the conventional deterrence, surveillance,  as a platform to counter LIMO threat, shadowing, monitoring and  escorting high value units in the peacetime. It can provide the analysis of meteorological data required for fleet operations.
