HYDERABAD: A new controversy is brewing over AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad occupying the chief minister’s chair while presiding over the Congress coordination committee meeting held at the CM’s camp office last Sunday.
The Telugu Desam Party alleged that Azad, who came to Hyderabad on a political mission, used the official residence of the chief minister for a political purpose. “Azad sat in the chair which the CM uses to conduct official work. The state government should take serious action against him for showing disrespect and dishonour to the chief minister’s office,” TDP leader A Revanth Reddy said on Tuesday.
Revanth Reddy, not stopping at that, said people would not mind if the Congress holds its meeting at Gandhi Bhavan or at a ‘brandy bhavan’, but holding it in the official residence of the chief minister was highly objectionable. “The chief minister, on his part, should apologise to the people,” he said, adding it would be better if the state secretariat is shifted to 10 Janpath for better coordination between the party and the government.
Lending support to TDP, the Jana Chaitanya Vedika said that by occupying the CM’s chair, Azad had hurt Telugu pride. “How can he discuss party candidates for byelections at the official residence of the chief minister?” Vedika state president V Lakshman Reddy asked.
