The ongoing Samaikyandhra agitation is no exception. Though the agitation’s main intention is to put pressure on the Centre to withdraw the decision on bifurcation, the impact of it was also falling on the common man. With the agitation intensifying every passing day the pressure on the common man has begun to show. The rising prices of essential commodities was breaking the backbone of the common man.
The second day of the bandh paralysed the normal life in the region with buses off the roads and government and private establishments downing the shutters. The busy collectorate office premises, where over a dozen offices are located were closed.
Not everyone was happy with the agitation, especially the parents. The parents are expressing their anguish on the Samaikyandhra agitation as the children are loosing their precious classes.
“We are under tremendous pressure to complete the syllabus in the stipulated time. Such bandhs and dharnas are nothing but loss of studies for students. Will the agitators come and complete the studies of students after bandh is over? Almost three weeks’ syllabus is pending. There will be a great impact on the meritorious students who are trying for top 10 ranks,’’ corporate college lecturer K Siva Kumar lamented.
“I am against the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh but at the same time opposing the bandhs as it was disrupting normal and adding woes to only Seemandhra people,’’ says VV Ramana Rao, employee of Central Government Employees Co-operative Thrift Society.
