Demanding equal justice for all regions in Andhra Pradesh while bifurcating the state, YSRC honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi staged a sit-in at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Wednesday along with a portrait of her late husband YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
The surroundings of Jantar Mantar reverberated with the slogans of ‘Hyderabad belongs to all Telugus’, ‘If you can’t do equal justice, then keep the AP as it is’, ‘Congress and the TDP conspired with each other to divide AP only to politically weaken Jagan’.
A day after they had knocked on the doors of President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to plead with them not to divide the state, YSRC lawmakers headed by Vijayamma staged a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the YSRC acting boss came down heavily on the Congress as well as the TDP for the proposed bifurcation of the state.
Wondering at the Congress Working Committee’s decision to carve Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh as Hyderabad its capital, Vijayamma questioned, “Hyderabad has emerged as a large metropolis with the combined efforts of the people of all regions over the 60 years. How can the Congress Party give away the city to Telangana people by depriving the Seemandhra people of their right on the city?”
She demanded the Congress high command and the Centre to do equal justice to people of all regions while bifurcating the state.
“If it is not possible to do equal justice to all regions, then the Centre should keep the state as it is,” she said.
Meanwhile, back in Hyderabad, party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu lambasted at the TDP leaders for their doubts on the reason behind Vijayamma’s Delhi tour.
“TDP leaders are attributing motives to Vijayamma’s Delhi visit only for cheap publicity. Their attitude is uncalled for and they should first ask their party boss N Chandrababu Naidu to spell out his stand first before embarking on any yatra, failing which he will be having no moral right to step on to the region which is on boil,” he said.
