Accusing chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy of shielding the corrupt, BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya has alleged that the chief minister’s peshi is facilitating corrupt deals.
Speaking to reporters at the party office here on Monday, the former Union minister said the chief minister’s peshi has become hub of corruption. “All corrupt deals in the state are taking place through the chief minister’s peshi. The peshi has become a facilitating agency to regularise the lands encroached by ministers, MPs, MLAs and corporate companies,” he alleged.
“The chief minister, who claims that he is a principled person, is encouraging corrupt practices and helping in regularisation of encroached government lands worth crores of rupees,” Dattatreya alleged.
“No action is being taken against corrupt officials while those raising their voice are being transferred. The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd(APIIC), which is supposed to recover government lands from private parties which have not completed the projects in time, is helping them regularise the lands. The chief minister promoted revenue officials, who have helped him regularise lands, as conferred IAS.
“Six cabinet ministers have been charge- sheeted by the CBI but the chief minister, instead of taking action against them, is shielding them and even providing legal aid to them.
“If Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, who is now talking of corruption, is really serious about the Lokpal Bill, he should implement it first in Andhra Pradesh. I am sure that more than 50 percent of the Congress leaders will be behind bars then,” he remarked.
